K.J Wright officially retires as a Seahawk

A humble, talented and genuine person came home and called it quits after 11 years in the NFL. Seahawks legend K.J Wright signed a one-day contract with the team and officially retired as a Seahawk. Wright spend the first ten years of his career with Seattle and helped create and legendary defense.

LOWER-ROUND DRAFT PICK

A fourth-round draft pick in the 2011 draft Wright had modest goals. A decent career and some financial gains to provide for his family and community. Needless to say, Wright’s career was anything but modest.

Over 10 seasons with the Seahawks, Wright piled up 934 tackles, the third most in team history behind Bobby Wagner and Eugene Robinson, and he earned Pro-Bowl honors in 2016 while playing at a Pro-Bowl level in plenty of other seasons, including his final season in Seattle.

PUBLIC SERVANT

In addition to his commitment, drive and excellence on the field. Wright was equally dedicated to making a difference off the field.  In 2018 Wright was a nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award for raising money to build fresh water wells in Kenya. In 2020 Wright traveled to Haiti with teammate Cliff Avril to help build a school.  That same year Wright received the prestigious Seattle Sports Star of the Year award.

ONE  NONE SEAHAWKS  YEAR

Wright spend his final year of football with the Raiders but deep down his heart was always with the Seahawks.
