- Sounders FC is now 7-7-2 on the season and ranks seventh in the Western Conference with 23 points. The club is averaging 1.44 points per game and is above the playoff line, leading eighth-place Portland by one point.
- Due to pandemic-related scheduling quirks, tonight’s game was the first matchup between Seattle and Montréal since 2019 and just the ninth contest overall, with the Rave Green now trailing in the all-time series 2-6-1. Montréal is the only team to win more than half of its games against Sounders FC among clubs the Rave Green have played more than five times.
- With Seattle’s opening goal in the third minute of play, Jordan Morris recorded his 50th career tally for the Rave Green across all competitions. Dating back to his rookie season in 2016, the Mercer Island native has 40 strikes in MLS, six in the MLS Cup Playoffs and four in Concacaf Champions League play.
- Morris is fifth in scoring across all competitions for Sounders FC, two tallies shy of fourth-place Nicolás Lodeiro. The top three in club scoring history is rounded out by Fredy Montero (73 goals), Raúl Ruidíaz (69) and Clint Dempsey (57).
- Morris is now in a three-way tie in club scoring this season with frontline teammates Nicolás Lodeiro and Raúl Ruidíaz. Each player has eight goals to their name across all competitions in 2022. Morris and Ruidíaz lead Sounders FC with five goals apiece in MLS play.
- With the assist on Morris’ goal, Cristian Roldan now has 10 assists across all competitions in 2022, leading the club. Roldan has five helpers in MLS play, and his five assists in Concacaf Champions League action led that tournament.
- Today’s loss marked the conclusion of a five-game stretch at Lumen Field for Sounders FC. The club won its first two matches of the home stand against Charlotte (May 29) and Vancouver (June 14), followed by a 1-1 draw with LAFC (June 18) and Saturday’s win over Sporting Kansas City, good for 10 points out of a possible 15.
- During the five-match home stand, Seattle outscored its opponents 11-4 in those contests. Seattle is outscoring its opponents 30-12 at home in 2022 across all competitions.
- Prior to tonight’s match, goalkeeper Stefan Frei was honored on the field for becoming just the third Sounder in club history to make 300 appearances for the club across all competitions, with today’s match being 301 (250 MLS regular season, 28 postseason, 17 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League, 3 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, 2 Leagues Cup and 1 MLS is Back Knockout Round).
