Seahawks tack two more years to Brian Mone’s contract

The Seahawks added two more years to defensive lineman Brian Mone’s existing contract. Already under contract for the upcoming season as an exclusive-rights free for $965,000.Mone’s contract extension will net him a $1.5 million signing bonus and a base salary of  $12 million that could expand to $13.8 million if agreed incentivizes are reached.   The contract extension will mean Mone will be a Seahawk until the end of 2024.

Mone played four games as a rookie in 2019 after signing with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent. In his second year, Mone improved his play and saw action in 10 games notching nine tackles, one for loss, and 0.5 sacks. Last year was the breakout year for the former Michigan Wolverine. Mone started five games and saw action in 14  and finished the year with  35 tackles, three quarterback hits, and 1.5 sacks.

CAP IMPLICATIONS

According to OvertheCap.com Mone‘s contraction extension will cost the Seahawks an additional $840,000. In 2023 that number will increase to $3.75 million and $6.4 million in 2024. The Hawks are $16.3 under the cap for 2022.
