Seahawks rookies  Elijah  Jones and Liam Ryan impress added to the active roster.

The Seahawks rookie minicamp last week turned into a golden opportunity for undrafted rookies, cornerback  Elijah Jones and tackle Liam Ryan who were offered contracts to return for the team’s upcoming OTAs and training camp.

The 6-foot-2 194 Jones had a somewhat nomadic collegiate career before settling in at Oregon State for the 2021 season.  Before planting roots with the Beavers last season Jones started his college career at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa then moved on to  Kansas for three years. Jones played a total of 24 collegiate games.  19 were with Jayhawks and five were with the Beavers. His numbers were good enough for the Seahawks to give him a shot once he went undrafted. In the 24 games played Jones recorded  40 tackles, four for loss, and had eight pass breakups.

Jones will have an uphill battle to make the team with the Seahawks drafting cornerbacks Coby Bryant and Tariq  Woolen during last month’s draft.  The Seahawks also signed free agent Arti Burns and brought back John Reid and Michael Jackson. If all goes well Tre Brown will be back from a patellar injury and compete for a starting role.

DEPTH ON THE OLINE

The 6-foot-5, 305-pound Ryan played four years at Washington State and was a teammate of third-round draft pick Abraham Lucas. Ryan played his first 13 games in college at the guard position then found his home at left tackle where he earned  Honorable All-Pac  12 recognition. Ryan started 40 of 43 games while playing for the Cougars. During the recent minicamp, Ryan saw some snaps at guard but is listed as a tackle.  Given the  Hawks have only five tackles, including first-round draft pick Lucas.
