Pete Carroll And John Schneider Looking Like They Will Be Around For A While

For those clamoring to give John Schneider and Pete Carroll, their hats and a  big swift kick in the rear on their way out of town don’t bet on it. A day after the Seahawks disappointing 24-25 loss to the Chicago Beas assuring a double-digit loss to the season, Carroll has been quoted as saying, “ Count  on us to figure it out.”

During Monday’s press conference with the media, Carrol was asked how much involvement team owner Jodie Allen has with the team.

“She’ll know what’s going on for everything. That’s what John (Schneider) is doing, John is making sure that their communication and their ongoing conversations about stuff is to keep her abreast to what’s happening. I won’t call her up, but John will call her up to let her know what’s cooking and what’s going on. If she has questions, we connect, we meet, and we do all of those things. I just wish you guys knew her more so because you would understand why it’s so impressive to have her be the owner, how strong she is, and the direction that she gives us. It’s really strong.”

COMFORTABLE SOLID RELATIONSHIP

The bottom line is that Carroll and Schneider are not planning on going anywhere any time soon. That is not to say Allen can’t do an about-turn and show the two the way out of town. The question would be who could convince her to make an abrupt leadership change after just one back season. Having said that this is the lowest the Seahawks have finished under the Schneider and Carroll regime.  It has been a  season of hit and misses, the resurgence of Rashaad Penny top performances from   Jordy Brooks,  Carlos Dunlap, Damien Lewis and the consistent Pro Bowl players  Quandre Diggs and future Hall of Famer Bobby Wagner.

The misses oh let us count just a few otherwise we could be heard all day and night. Injuries to Jamal  Adams, Chris Carson, Alex Collins, Marquis Blair, and Tre Brown all played a part.  Put in Russell Wilson’s injury one can make a case for this being the exception rather than the norm.

OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN

Now for those on the other side of the argument and cant’ wait for the season to end and are hoping for a regime change their evidence is the declining performance of the Seahawks since the 2013 Superbowl win. Since then, the Seahawks returned to the Superbowl lost to the Patriots, and never advanced past the Divisional Playoff round. After hitting the jackpot in 2011 with the third-round selection of Russell Wilson the Seahawks had some success with late-round draft picks. The misses by the Schneider and Carroll regime made some franchise-altering misses when it came to first-round draft picks. The trade for Adams left the Seahawks devoid of first-round draft picks in 2021 and 2022 meaning more misery for those Seahawks fans hoping and praying for a regime change.
