Sounders Roldan, Yeimar, and Nohou Receive National Team Call Ups

Sounders FC will bid good luck to Cristian Roldan  ( United States), Nohou ( Cameron) and Yeimar Gomez Andrade ( Colombia) on a happy note after Sunday’s decision day game against the Vancouver Whitecaps. The trio has been called up for International Duty by their respective countries during the upcoming November  FIFA window. A win by the Sounders over the Whitecaps will give them first place in the Western Conference and keep them home for all Western Conference playoff games

While Roldan and Nohou have represented their countries in previous call ups the November call up will be a first for Yeimar

FIRST TIME CALL UP

The Colombian’s are currently in fourth place in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying with six matches remaining. Colombia is set to face Brazil on November 11 and Paraguay on November 16. Yeimar, who joined Sounders FC prior to the 2020 season, has started 28 of 32 appearances this season and was voted as a starter in the 2021 MLS All-Star Game. 

CONTINUING TO PUSH FOR  STARTING POSITION  

The November call-up will offer an opportunity for Roldan to add to his 29 career caps for the U.S. Men’s National Team. With 10 appearances this year Roldan is looking to find a way to break into the starting  Gregg Berhalter’s starting 11. Roldan appeared in all five games for the USMNT in its title-winning run at the Concacaf Gold Cup this summer. The United States is set to host Mexico on November 12 in Cincinnati before traveling to face Jamaica in Kingston on November 16.The Stars and Stripes sit in second place in the third and final round of Concacaf World Cup qualification, three points behind Mexico with eight matches remaining in total.

CONTINUED SIGNIFICANT ROLE

Despite having just four career appearances for Cameroon  Nouhou is becoming an invaluable member of the Les Lions Indomptables.  Cameron is set to face Malawi on November 13 and Cote d’Ivoire on November 16 in the final two matches of the second round of CAF World Cup qualification. Cameroon sits in second place in Group D, one point behind Cote d’Ivoire, with the winner of each group advancing to the third round.

BRUIN UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL SURGERY

Sounders FC also announced this week that forward Will Bruin has undergone successful surgery. The procedure – a right knee arthroscopy – was performed by Dr. Brian Cole on Tuesday, November 2 in Chicago, Illinois. He begins rehabilitation immediately following the procedure.

Bruin, 32, has three goals and four assists in 24 appearances in 2021, giving him 27 and 15, respectively, since joining Sounders FC prior to the 2017 season (including postseason play). Prior to his time in Seattle, Bruin spent six standout seasons with the Houston Dynamo. He is tied for first among active MLS players with nine postseason goals and 10th with 74 regular-season tallies.
