Richard Sherman released from King County Jail with a second court appearance scheduled for Friday Morning.

The Richard Sherman arrest saga took a  major turn Thursday afternoon.  The former Seattle Seahawk and San Francisco 49er player is free on his own recognizance.  King County District Court judge  Fa’amomoi Masaniai found probable cause against  Sherman for four non-felony criminal allegations. One  count of misdemeanor criminal trespass with a domestic violence designation, malicious mischief, DUI,  and resisting arrest

Judge Masaniai ordered Sherman to return Friday at 8:30 am for a hearing on the charges.

WHAT LED TO ARREST THEN THE RELEASE?

With much speculation surrounding the incident up to the arrest of Sherman here is what facts we do know from the released Redmon Police 911 audio and case reports.

REDMOND POLICE STATEMENT

The Redmond Police Department has released audio from 911 calls and case reports related to the July 14, 2021, arrest of Richard Sherman. Several 911 communications centers in the region received calls related to this case. The Redmond Police Department Communications/911 Center handled the 911 calls received from the residence of the incident. 

Just before 2 a.m.Redmond police received a 911 call from the in-laws’ home, reporting that Sherman was trying to break in, Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe said during a Wednesday press conference.

 According to Redmond authorities officers and state, troopers responded and tried to calm the situation by developing a rapport with the Sherman.

ENCOUNTER LEADS TO ARREST

 The tactic initially seemed to work, but Sherman’s demeanor changed when the officers told him he was under arrest, Lowe said. According to reports he began walking away rapidly and fought as police tried to take him into custody, and a K-9 officer released the dog to subdue him. Sherman got minor cuts to his lower leg and was treated at a hospital before being taken to jail.

ALLEGED DRINKING AND DRIVING

Court records show that Sherman is under investigation by the Washington State Patrol for allegedly driving under the influence and crashing his vehicle into a concrete barrier on Highway 520, then driving from the scene in the badly damaged vehicle, and abandoning it in a parking lot.

NON CONTACT WITH INLAWS

Sherman was ordered to have no contact with his father-in-law.

A woman who identified herself as Sherman’s wife in a 911 call to the King County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday night told a dispatcher Sherman had been drinking and had threatened to kill himself, according to a recording of the call obtained through a public-disclosure request. In a subsequent call, she said Sherman may have been going to her parent’s house in Redmond and confirmed she called ahead to tell them.
