Storm release WNBA Legend Candice Dupree

In a sign of the times, the Seattle Storm released future WBNA Legend Candice Dupree via a team release Friday afternoon. The hope was for Dupree to find meaningful time with the Storm but those plans never materialized as the match-up never quite gelled.

Dupree appeared in 16 games with the Storm, averaging 5.9 points and 2.5 rebounds per game but never broke into the starting line up.

Dupree started her 16 year career with Chicago in 2006 when the Sky made her the franchises first-ever draft pick by selecting her number overall. The seven-time WNBA All-star spent the next 16 years with four different teams.

The future Hall of Famer now ranks second all-time in games played at 484 and has made more 2-pt field goals than any other WNBA player (2,779). She has averaged 14.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game in her career while shooting 49.6% from the field overall.

She recently moved into fourth on the WNBA’s all-time scoring list with 6,822 career points and is just one assist away from 900 for her career.
