Russell Wilson named 2021 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year

Every Tuesday Wilson has been paying a visit to children at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Although this year’s visits have been virtual due to Covid-19 restrictions, Wilson’s impact on the youth has not diminished. His commitment to making a difference in life  continues to grow

CONTINUED GROWTH IN GIVING BACK

 Wilsons has an unwavering  commitment to excel on and off the field . The more games he wins the greater his commitment to giving. In 2014 Wilson and wife Ciara  launched the Why Not You  Foundation a collaborative effort  between the Wilsons, Safeway and Albertson. The Foundation’s mission is to empower change one child at a time. The partnership between the two grocery chains and the Wilson’s have  donated more than $9 million to Strong Against Cancer an organization that  funds life-saving immunotherapy treatment. Last October the Wilsons announced the launch of the Why Not You Academy. A tuition free public school that  is scheduled to  open this fall in Seattle.

“My dad’s probably smiling ear-to-ear, because [Payton] was probably one of my dad’s favorite athletes of all time, and he always talked about what he did off the field and who he was as a person,” Wilson said, according to the Seahawks. “… I know my dad’s smiling down on me, and I know Walter’s up there too, they’re probably hanging out, maybe even smoking a cigar, who knows? What a blessing it is.”

 An eight-time Pro Blower and Super- Bowl winner Wilson has now earned the one trophy he truly  deserves for his dedication to the disadvantaged. A humble , family loving, and god fearing man, Wilson has finally been acknowledged for  his commitment to humanity .

Wilson is the second Seahawk player to win the award.  Hall of Famer receiver Steve Largent won it in 1988. In addition to the award the  Wilson will receive a $250,000 donation to the couples  Why Not You Foundation.
