Husky Head Coach Jimmy Lake “ We Are Read For The Challenge”

After seeing their first game cancelled against Cal cancelled due to Covid-19 Husky head coach Jimmy Lake says his team his ready to take on a tough Oregon State  Beavers team.

Saturday night game will be the second game of the season for the Beavers who are 0-1 after a 28-38 home loss to the Washington State Cougars.  The Husky coaching staff and players were able to watch  the Beavers loss to the Cougars.

The Beavers attack is lead by OSU  Junior running back Jermar Jefferson who rushed for 120 yards and scored three touchdowns in the loss to the  Cougars.

GAME NOTES

Washington will have gone 329 days since their last game when they take the field, the time-span from Dec. 21 (Las Vegas Bowl vs. Boise State) and Nov. 14 (UW vs. Oregon State). UW lists just four returning starters on offense and just five on defense ..

13 different players have started at least one game on offense and 11 on defense, with those 13 offensive players accounting for 115 career starts and the 11 defensive players for 93

Washington leads the all-time series, 66-34-4, and has the advantage in games played in Seattle, 37-19-2.

Three Beavers made their first career starts in the game versus Washington State (Joshua Gray, Jake Levengood and Alex Austin). Overall, eight players made their Oregon State debuts

LAST MEETING

Jaydon Grant returned an interception for a touchdown in Oregon State’s 19-7 loss to the Huskies last season at Reser Stadium.
The game, which was a 7:45 p.m. start, also on FS1, saw the teams combine for 539 yards of total offense (420 for Washington, 119 for Oregon State).

 Jake Luton passed for 88 yards and Jermar Jefferson ran for 39 on just nine carries.

 Omar Speights finished with 18 tackles, the most in a single game by a true or redshirt freshman nationally in 2019. The 18 also put him into a tie for ninth-most ever by an Oregon State player, and second-most against the Huskies (trailing Osia Lewis’ 21 in 1985).
