Seahawks Pete Carroll on loss to Bills , “ We failed to execute”

After looking at Sundays game It was abundantly clear why  the Seahawks suffered an uncharacteristic 44-34 loss  to  the Bills according to  head coach  Pete Carroll.

“ We came out not executing some basic stuff. Things we practiced we failed to execute in the game.  We are really disappointed in that because generally that is not the case .”

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson committed four turnovers while the defense gave up 386 passing yards.  Here what else the Carroll had to say during his weekly   Zoom call  with the media.

SLOW STARTED

The  Bills  offense scored on both of it’s open drives while the Seahawks sputtered and punted the  ball after it’s first three plays of the game. Already down 14-0 Seahawks quarterback Wilson threw an interception on teams second possession which converted into three points. Down 17-0  Carroll was asked if  Wilson the deficit  caused will to press during the game.

RUNING BACKS CHRIS CARSON AND CARLOS HYDE HAVE A CHANCE TO PLAY ON SUNDAY

The Seahawks running  game has been subpar with the absence of  starter Chris Carson and his back up Carlos Hyde. Rookie DeeJay Dallas  stepped in the last two games and his ability to catch the football and run the ball outside of the tackles has  been adequate. What  Seahawks rush attack misses with Carson and Hyde is the ability to run inside the tackles and be physical strong enough to get the one or two yards in situational football. On  Sunday  quarterback  Russell Wilson scored on his first qb sneak of his career.  If Carson or Hyde were in the game they most likely would have got the ball.  The good news according to Carroll is that both have a chance to play this Sunday.

RASHAAD PENNY CLOSE TO RETURN

In addition to  Carson and Hyde returning for this Sundays game Carroll let it be know that running back Rashaad Penny’s return to the team is very close. Penny  tore his left ACL   in the Seahawks Week 14 game against the Rams last December.

ON DEFENSE TAKING A STEP FORWARD

Despite giving up 420 offensive yards  Carroll  said he believes the Seahawks defense is headed in the right direction. The defense sack Bills quarterback Josh Allen seven times.

The return of  Strong safety Jamal Adams  and  debut of  DE Carlos Dunlap  was a tremendous boost to the defense according to Carroll.

INJURY UPDATES

According to Carroll DE Brian Mone  (high  ankle) was the only serious casualty from Sundays game. Cornerback D.J Reed and linebacker K.J Wright also had ankle injuries but were not serious.

The loss of Mone  for several weeks due to the high ankle sprain paves the way for  defensive tackle Damon Harrison  to make his Seahawks debut  this  Sunday.

POSITIVE PETE ON BEING IN FIRST PLACE

As  one can imagine Carroll  say he reminded the players  that despite it all the team is in first place half way through  the season.

According to Carroll the team must continue its messaging to the players to continue to grow  and stay grounded . Something the coaching staff continually reminds the players.
