Husky Head Coach Jimmy Lake On Heavyweights, Being Prepared And WR Unit

Husky head coach Jimmy Lake met with local media for the second time during the Huskies fall camp Friday morning. Here is what the head coach had to say.

BOXING IS LIKE FOOTBALL

One  revelation from the press conference was the Huskies head man is a big boxing fan. While he was not able to describe in detail his appreciation for the sport Lake acknowledged  the sport has had  an influence on his  recruiting.

The bigger, stronger, and faster mentality has become the Huskies mantra moving forward. The program had big players under former head coach Chris Petersen the change under Lake is the intentionality of recruiting the heavyweights.

The metamorphosis has already begun with the offensive line. The Huskies have four offensive linemen that are over 300 pounds.

BEING PREPARED FOR EVERY GAME AND PRACTICE

Another Lake mantra that has emerged is being prepared for every practice and game. Lake has stressed that he is a detailed oriented head coach who has kept notes since his early days as a coach.

WIDE RECEIVERS MAKING NOISE

During the presser, Lake was asked if anyone unit has stood out since fall camp has begun. While diplomatic about each unit has good and back days Lake did single out the wide receivers unit.
