The Husky men’s basketball program has added another local former prep star. Michigan transfer and former Lynden High School standout Cole Bajema has signed an aid agreement according to head coach Mike Hopkins.
“Cole fits in our Husky program perfectly and we’re very lucky to have him,” said Hopkins. “He is highly skilled, has great size, and elevates everyone around him on and off the court. His work ethic, talent, and character are exactly what we want in our family. It’s our plan to bring the best players in our state to Montlake and we can’t wait to see him in purple and gold.”
The 6’7 sophmore will have to sit out the 2020-21 season due to NCAA transfer rules. During his prep career at Lynden Christian Bajema was named Associated Press Class 1A Player of the year as a junior and senior. He was named All-State by many organizations and was on the Washington 1A State All-Tournament Team three times along with being the MVP during the 2018 season.
He helped his school to a 95-12 record while he was on varsity all four years and in his last two seasons, Lynden Christian went 52-2.
Bajema joins transfers Erik Stevenson (Wichita State) and Nate Pryor (North Idaho) as additions to UW’s roster for next season. Bajema and Stevenson will have to sit out a year unless they are approved for a transfer waiver, while Pryor is immediately eligible.
