The former 39th – overall pick in the 2013 draft by the New York Jets spent four years with the Jets then bounced around the NFL as a sturdy and reliable back up.  After the 2016 season with the Jets Smith spent the 2017 season with  Giants then moved on to LAC for one year before joining the Seahawks in 2019.

Smith’s  last start in the NFL was in 2017 when he finished the season with completed 21 passes on 36 attempts for 212 yards and one touchdown in two games.

The move to bring back Smith makes sense for the Seahawks who had undrafted  free agent  rookie  Anthony Gordon as Wilson’s back up.
