Quick impressions from Seahawks 30-24 win over Panthers

BOUNCE BACK WIN

The Seattle Seahawks scored on their first three possession Sunday against the Carolina Panthers and bolted to a 20-7 halftime lead that propelled them to a 30-24 win. It was a much needed bounce back win for the Seahawks offense after last weeks dismal performance in LA.

The Seahawks defense continued its ball hawking manner with another multiple turnover day despite the absence of key starters. Shaquill Griffin, Mychal Kendricks, Jadeveon Clowney and Ziggy Ansah were all declared inactive for the game.

Things got worse during the game when Bobby Wagner and Quandre Diggs suffered ankle injuries. Diggs injury looks to be more serious than Wagner’s. Here are quick impressions from the Seahawks win.

TYLER LOCKETT IS BACK

After dealing with a shin contusion that saw him spend two nights in a San Francisco hospital  after the 49ers game Lockett was hit full on with the flu bug that had a major impact on his production.  After the 49ers game Lockett had 4 receptions for  83 yards in the Seahawks next three games against the Philadelphia Eagles ( 1) Minnesota Vikings( 0) and  Los Angeles Rams (4). On Sunday Lockett had eight receptions for  120 yards and one touchdown.

“I think he had the flu and then before that he had the leg injury in San Fran. He was just kind of battling through. He is such a tough warrior in how he prepares and how he plays, plays through injuries and stuff like that. He is back to full speed Tyler Lockett which is a great thing for us. How he got down the field on a couple of plays today, scramble like I said and just different things he was able to do was awesome for us. And the thing about DK, he doesn’t look like a rookie out there. He is playing great, he has been on his stuff, he has been top notch, one of the best rookies that has come into this draft and it’s great to have him on our football team I know that.”

CHRIS CARSON IS THE REAL DEAL

Running back Chris Carson finished Sunday’s game with 133 yards on 24 carries and scored two touchdowns. Carson showed his versatility Sunday running outside of the tackles when given the opportunity and straight up the middle when those plays were called. Regardless of where he ran the ball  Carson  light on his feet and finished his runs by lowering  his shoulder and dishing out punishment  to an Carolina defender who dared to try to tackle him.

“ We just want to set up everything for Russell [Wilson]. He’s one of the best players in the NFL when you give him some time, and when you give him weapons. We know that can balance it out and run the ball. C.J. [Prosise] came in, Travis [Homer] got some carries, it was great.

You get good results when that happens. It’s just the balanced attack that we have. We’ve got great running backs, a great offensive line, great receivers and a great defense. We got the leadership with Bobby [Wagner] and Russell [Wilson], so we have everything we need. “

SEAHAWKS DEFENSE HAS DEPTH AND TALENT

Akeem King started for Shaquill Griffin who had a hamstring injury and finished the day with five tackles. Rookie free safety Marquise Blair was credited with one tackle after filling in for the injured Diggs in the second half.
