Seahawks healing up heading into Monday Night matchup

The Seattle Seahawks look to have overcome a Thanksgiving Bug that hit the team during the Holiday with the optimistic news that a couple of key players will be ready to participate in Monday Nights game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Tyler Lockett Shin/Illness David Moore ,G Jordan Roos,
LB Shaquem Griffin and DT Poona Ford all missed practice this week due to the bug. After Saturday’s practice head coach Pete Carroll gave a positive prognosis regarding the players who were battling the bug.

DEFENSIVE LINE HEALTHY

The news was even better when it came to the health of the defensive line. After missing last week’s game at Philadelphia Jadeveon Clowney made it through the week and will start on Monday. Al Woods and Jarran Reed have also been given the green light to play Monday Night. Woods has been battling an ankle injury that saw him participate in 45% of the snaps last week. Reed participated in only 28% of the defensive snaps and like Woods is battling an ankle injury.

OFFENSE HEALTHY AND READY

All offensive players are ready to go with the exception of Luke Wilson who missed last week’s game due to a hamstring. Wilson is listed as Questionable for Monday and its is unlikely that he will play. Jacob Hollister was a full participant during Saturday’s practice after limited practice participation on Friday.

QUICK TAKE

The Vikings have the 4th best rushing offense in the league and will be a big test for the Seahawks 10th ranked rushing defense. The return of Clowney and a healthy Woods and Reed should be difference maker. Viking running back Dalvin Cook is a two dimensional back who has run for 1, 017 yards and is tied for the team lead in receptions with 45 receptions for 455 yards.

The Seahawks win this game if they are able to keep the Vikings in third and long situations. That is they will need to win the first and second down battles on defense. The Vikings have the 6th best rushing defense and will be big test for the Seahawks 6th ranked rushing offense. Look for Russell Wilson to run pass options early and often to soften up the Vikings defense then throw deep balls to Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf.
