SEAHAWKS DEFENSE SAVES THE DAY
The Seattle Seahawks defense bowed up and carried the Seattle Seahawks to 17-9 victory on a day when the offense struggled. The defense forced five turnovers and the offense scored a mere field goal . The one bright spot on the offense was the play of Rashaad Penny who rebounded from a bad San Francisco game with a career-high 14 carries for 129 yards
DEFENSIVE LINE CAME TO PLAY
Despite the loss Jadeveon Clowney who did not play due to a hip injury the Seahawks defensive line showed that it is more than a one man unit. The Seahawks hounded ,harassed and accosted Philadelphia quarterback Carson Wentz all day long. The Dline accounted for all three sacks in the game , Ziggy Anhsah had 1.5 sacks , Jarren Reed a half sack and Rashaad Green one sack. Reed suffered an ankle and the extent of the injury is unknown. Despite the injury head coach Pete Carroll wa pleased with theD- Lines play
“We were just active, and al ot different guys were active. I thought Grif did a nice job. Q. Jeff did a nice job too. Unfortunately, J-Reed sprained his ankle a little bit, but until then he did a nice job. So I think it’s , I just thought it was just a contribution from different guys. We pressured then a number of times. Mixing the rushes and stuff continues to help us. And you can just, it’s just different. We’re just better than we have been and we have taken a big jump forward.”
SHAQUEM GRIFFIN FINDING HIS ROLE
Linebacker turned defensive end Shaquem Griffin had his best game since his position shift. Griffin is playing up on the defensive line as an edge rusher something that he did in college and enjoys playing. On Sunday Griffin had a sack and two quarterback hits. Putting Griffin first game on the defensive line was last week against San Francisco and is become familiar with the position each game.
RASHAAD PENNY IS READY TO CHALLENGE FOR MORE REPS
Running back Rashaad Penny had the best game of his two year career and the second year back showed that he has overcome his dismal performance in the San Francisco where he had two carried for two yards and one fumble that kept him on the bench. On Sunday Penny rushed for a career high 129 yards . His best run was a game breaking 58 yard TD run three minutes into the fourth quarter.
OFFENSIVE SHOWING NOT SO GREAT
The Seahawks offense had a subpar game on Sunday with two turnovers and several dropped passes by the wide receivers. Russell Wilson threw an interception and Chris Carson had another fumble to give him seven for the season. In addition to the fumbles and dropped passes the Seahawks as 12 penalties for 90 yards. Despite the dismal offensive showing the Seahawks did enough to win their 9th game of the season.
