Huskies Mens basketball team improves to 2-0 with 56-46 win over Mount St. Mary’s

The N0. 20 ranked University of Washington men’s basketball team overcame a sluggish start and pushed it’s unbeaten record to 2-0. with a 56-46 win over Mount St Mary’s Tuesday night at Alaska Airlines Arena. Isaiah Stewart scored 16 points and blocked five shots, Nahziah Carter scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half as the Huskies showed their youthfulness in how they started and in how they finished.

The Huskies looked to have some confidence going into the game after notching a feather in their cap after last Fridays 67-64 win over Baylor in the Armed Forces Classic in Anchorage Alaska. Confidence was no where to be found during the Huskies awful first half against the Mountaineers. The Huskies went into the halftime break tied at 21 all after making just 9-24 field goal shots and shot 37.5%

Youth was served in the second half as the Huskies came out of the brake with a quickness and bolted to a 7-point that was short lived . An offensive board and layup from Nana Opoku with 11:23 left put the Mount up 34-33 and forced a timeout. But that would be the last time the Mountaineers would see the lead as the Huskies found the momentum to regain the lead and keep it. The Huskies outscored the visitors 23-12 to secure the victory.
