Seahawks Pete Carroll, ” Rookies will get plenty of playing time”

The Seattle Seahawks will host the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night ( 7:00 p.m ) to kick off the teams preseason. Head coach Pete Carroll was clear during Wednesday afternoon’s media briefing about the rookies getting plenty of playing.

With starting quarterback Russell Wilson will not be taking part in the game meaning the competition to back up Wilson will be one of the battles to watch on Thursday night. The duel to back up Wilson will between Geno Smith and Paxton Lynch. Two nomadic quarterbacks looking for a home. Both have shown signs of having the ability to be the back and will look to you Thursday as an opportunity to be the front line.

ROOKIE LINEBACKERS TO GET A CHANCE

Another position to keep an eye on during Thursday’s game will be the linebacking position. With Bobby Wagner sitting out the game rookies Cody Barton and Ben Burr-Kervin will be given an opportunity to cement their position on the team. Barton has had a stellar camp and missed just one day of practice due to a hamstring injury. Burr-Kervin returned to practice last week after a hernia operation

DK METCALF WATCH

Thursday will also mark the anticipated debut of rookie Wide Receiver DK Metcalf. The second-round draft pick from Mississippi has been nothing short stellar during training camp. The 6-4 229 Wide out has caught everything throw his way . Metcalf has caught the deep ball, short ball and inside ball . Metcalf has shown that he is not just a one dimension wide reciver. Thursday will be his opportunity to perform in a real NFL game.

INJURY REPORT

Severall players will not participate in Thursdays game due to injury. Tight ends Ed Dixon ( has knee sugery), TE Will Dissly ( knee) Jacob Hollister, running back C.J Prosise, Guard Phil Haynes and will be sidelined due to injuries.
