University of Washington men’s basketball has signed five-star Class of 2019 local standout Jaden McDaniels to the Husky program, head coach Mike Hopkins announced. McDaniels, who hails from Federal Way, signed a Financial Aid Agreement and will join the Dawgs next season. Washington will now have three five-star standouts on the roster.

“Jaden is an elite player, tremendously athletic for his size and is going to be a great addition to our class,” said Hopkins. “He has an unbelievable work ethic and a great skill set for his position, as he can do it all. Getting an incredible player from our state is not only special but he is a proven winner and has developed into not only the top player in the state, but one of the best in the nation. He is the perfect fit for the culture we are creating here as we continue to build the UW program and we couldn’t be more excited to see him in purple and gold.”

McDaniels has been consistently ranked among the top 10 players nationally in all services for the 2019 class and joins a top 10 ranked class which includes five-star forward Isaiah Stewart, local prospect RaeQuan Battle (Marysville, WA) and Marcus Tsohonis (Portland, Ore.). The Huskies will also add five-star Kentucky transfer Quade Green, who has been with the team since January sitting out due to transfer rules.

The 6-9 power forward, who played at Federal Way High School, was a 2019 McDonald’s All-American and selected for the Jordan Brand Classic roster. He has been an active member of USA Basketball and helped Federal Way to a third-place finish at the Washington 4A state tournament with a 26-3 record. He was named the MVP of the 4A North Puget Sound League.

The Huskies head to Italy this August 12-22 to compete in four games against Italian Series A teams, giving fans an opportunity to see how this new team starts to develop. The full 2019-20 schedule will be released at a later date.
