Isaiah Stewart to UW is now official

SEATTLE – Isaiah Stewart has signed a National Letter of Intent for the University of Washington men’s basketball program and will join the Montlake family this summer, head coach Mike Hopkins announced on Wednesday.

The five-star forward will join RaeQuan Battle and Marcus Tsohonis in the 2019-20 class. The Huskies will also add five-star Kentucky transfer Quade Green, who has been with the team since January sitting out due to transfer rules.

“We’re so happy to welcome Isaiah to the Husky family and ready to have him in purple and gold,” said Hopkins. “He is a dynamic player who has an unrelenting work ethic that fits exactly what we are trying to build here at Washington. He’s a difference maker not only on the court but as a leader, a worker and a person. He’s going to be a great teammate and he’s a proven winner. We’re excited for him to join this class and know he is going to be a great representative for Husky nation.”

A well-documented and heralded recruit, Stewart comes to Seattle from Rochester, New York. The 6-9 forward competed at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana where he helped lead the team a runner-up finish at the Geico National Championship this season.On his list of accolades, Stewart was named a McDonald’s All-American, won the Naismith High School Player of the Year award, earned a spot at the Jordan Brand Classic and has been active in the USA Basketball association, most recently competing at the Nike Hoop Summit. He was also a member of the 2018 U-17 FIBA World Cup Team that won the gold medal a year ago for USA Basketball.
