Huskies to face Utah and Colorado in first conference road trip

The Washington Huskies (10-4, 1-0) will take their first conference road trip of the season as they head to the mountains to face( Utah 7-7, 1-1) and Colorado. The Huskies will begin the two-game tilt at Utah on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. PT then take on the Colorado Buffaloes ( 9-5, 0-2) Saturday at 7p.m. PT.

The game will mark the 25th meeting between the two programs with Utah owning a 15-9 record. Utah has won the last six games. The Utes, who are 8-2 when playing the Huskies at home, have won five straight inside the Huntsman Center, with the last loss coming back on Jan. 7, 2012.

LAST TIME OUT

The Huskies had their best offensive showing of the season in their 80 to 62 home win over the Washington State Cougars. Washington shot 56.6 percent from the field (30-53) and had a season-high 17 assists on 30 made baskets. The improved offensive showing is something the Huskies have been working during practice.

Jaylen Nowell leads UW in scoring averaging 17.3 points per game. Noah Dickerson ranks second on the team with 14.5 points per game, leads the team in rebounding with 6.6 rebounds per game and a .533 shooting percentage. Nowell is right behind him shooting .532 on the year. Matisse Thybulle has tallied a team-leading 41 steals and 30 blocked shots on the season.

Utah was on the road last week to open Pac-12 play and returned home with a win over Arizona State and a loss to Arizona. Utes Senior Sedrick Barefield is coming off a pair of 20-point efforts, having scored 26 points against Arizona State and 24 points against Arizona, respectively.

 Sophomore Donnie Tillman tallied a pair of 20-point performances, as well, scoring a career-high 22 points at Arizona State and then following with a 21-point effort at Arizona.

If the Huskies are to have any success against the Utes, they will need to play tough defense and stick to their assignments according to Husky Dominic Green.
