No doubt the end justified the means for the Seattle Sounders ( 17-11-5, 56 points)in their hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Houston Dynamo (9-16-8, 35points) Sunday afternoon at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston Texas. The Sounders made the victory harder than it had to be by giving up two-goal leads at, 2-0 and 3-1 before securing their second consecutive road win in five days.
The Sounders took the lead in the 26th minute when Nicolas Lodeiro served up the first of his three record-setting assists when the Uruguayan served up a tantalizing corner kick that Center back Chad Marshall lofted into the back of the Dynamo.

The goal was Marshall’s fourth of the season, 26th regular season strike and the game its self-was the Centerbacks 400th career appearance. The Rave Green looked like the game was going to be a walk in the park when Lodeiro broke the Sounder FC’s single-season record when he served up another exquisite corner kick chip to a wide open Gustav Svensson for the visitors second goal in the 49minute.
While the goal was Svensson’s fourth of the season, the assist by Lodeiro was his 14th of the season a new Rave Green record for assists in a game. Any thoughts of an easy Sunday afternoon for the Sounders were dashed 14 minutes later when the Dynamos’ Oscar Bomie Garcia did his best Lodeiro imitation by lofting corner kick to teammate Kevin Garcia to narrow the home side deficits to one goal at 2-1. The assist by Boniek Garcia was his 40th all-time for the Dynamo in all competitions.
Lodeiro was not to be about done on a day he was feeling like the mail person delivering the mail every day and on time. The Uruguayan set the Sounders all-time assist record with 35th in the 87th minute when he fed Raul Rudiaz with a through ball, the Peruvian forward sneaked under Dynamo keeper Tyler Deric for his eighth goal in just 13 matches with the Rave Green.
The Sounders inability to close out games almost came back to haunt two minutes later when Romell Quioto’s thru ball found it’s self to a wide open Mauro Manotas who was able to deflect the ball into the back of the Sounders goals and giving the home side reason to believe with the score 3-2 and extra time looming.

The Sounders were able to gather themselves and hold on to the win after the four minutes of added time had expired.
