The Washington Huskies defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils 27-20 in a hard-fought game at Husky Stadium.
Afterwards, the Husky coaches and players talked about their important win in front of the Husky faithful.
Chris Petersen (Head Coach)
Overview: Coach Pete was proud of how his team fought tonight. He thought the defense did a great job against the Arizona State receivers. Petersen also thought that the offensive line did a great job. Overall, he said it’s great to get a win in this league.
Bush Hamdan (Offensive Coordinator)
Overview: Coach Hamdan said that Jake Browning played extremely smart, and that he couldn’t be more proud of him. He said he hopes the receivers know that they are going to get opportunities. Hamdan also said it’s a huge plus anytime Salvon Ahmed touches the ball.
Jimmy Lake (Defensive Coordinator)
Overview: Coach Lake said his vote for the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week Award this week is Ben Burr-Kirven once again. He said they missed more tackles tonight than in the first three games. Lake said he is happy that they held N’Keal Harry to 5 catches for 20 yards total.
Ty Jones (Wide Receiver)
Overview: Ty Jones said his first thought on his spectacular catch is that he was going to get chewed out on film, because he was supposed to be wider. He said he could tell the night before that Jake Browning was mentally locked in. Jones said its important for him to stay calm and confident.
Jordan Miller (Cornerback)
Overview: Jordan Miller said the team knows that it’s not always going to be pretty but it goes into the fourth quarter that they are going to come out victorious. He said he embraces competing against a guy like N’Keal Harry because you don’t see guys like that often. Miller said it’s always great playing at Husky Stadium.
Byron Murphy (Cornerback)
Overview: Byron Murphy said it was great to play against close friend N’Keal Harry this year because he wasn’t able to play in the game last year. He said they have a lot of players on defense who can make plays. Murphy said playing against the Utah QB last week prepared them for Manny Wilkins.
Jake Browning (Quarterback)
Overview: Jake Browning thought that the receivers did a great job of getting open and that the protection was good. He felt they did a great job of running the ball and that he had a lot of time back there. Browning said on his TD pass to Cade Otton that he was about the throw it out of the end zone before that.
