LAFC FORWARD ADAMA DIOMANDE VOTED ALCATEL MLS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC 9-3-4,30pts)forward Adama Diomande was acknowledged for his league-record  scoring spree Tuesday morning when he was voted the Alcatel Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 18 following his hat-trick performance in LAFC’s 4-1 victory over Philadelphia Union (6-3-8, 21pts) at Banc of California Stadium on June 30.

The Norwegian born forward scored the clubs first-ever hat trick in just 55 minutes tallying his goals scored in the first five games to seven which set an MLS record for the most goals after five league games.

Diomande started scoring his scoring barrage 25 minutes into the game when his low right footed shot to the far post beat Union goalkeeper Andre Blake for the 1-0 LAFC lead.  Diomandes second goal was an easy tap-in, that gave the home side the 2-0 lead in the 43rd minute.

Diomande completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute when he recovered a Latif Blessing shot attempt and right-footed the loose ball into the back of the Union net.
