Seahawks have one signing left to close out 2018 draft class

During their pre-draft with the media, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and General Manager John Schneider were quoted as saying they were going to do things different and more efficient.

On Thursday night the Seahawks announced the signing linebacker Shaquem Griffin and cornerback Tre Flowers. On Wednesday the team announced the signing of first-round draft pick  Rashaad Penny bring to eight the number of draft picks signed from this year 2018 class.

Offensive tackle Jamarco Jones, a fifth-round pick, and quarterback Alex McGough, a seventh-rounder, were signed on Tuesday joining previously signed rookies, tight end Will Dissly, punter Michael Dickson and defensive end Jacob Martin. who signed prior to rookie minicamp earlier this month. Defensive end Rasheem Green remains the only unsigned draft pick.

The methodical signing of the draft picks and free agents reaffirm the Seahawks said commitment to streamlining the draft the process and going back to business. Carroll was quoted during the teams pre-draft meeting with the media,

“I think this year we’ve taken another step in refining the process. I think we’re more precise about some things and information that we’re gathering and I think it’s allowed John to clean the board up more clearly than ever. ” Said Carroll.” I think that’s what’s happened. So we might not have as many numbers on the board because we’re more tuned in to specifically to guys that really fit.”

The also announced the signing of linebacker Dadi Nicolas and receiver Keena Reynolds to the team’s 90-man roster.  Defensive ends Marcell Frazier and Noble Nwachukwu were waived to make room for Nicolas and  Reynolds.

With training camp just a few weeks away it is clear the Seahawks are hoping the reboot of the assistant coaching staff, a  new and improved draft reevaluation process  and pretty how the front office does business from the pre-draft evaluation, draft day  selections, and offseason workouts, as well as preseason practices, will lead to instant dividends on the field when the season starts in September.
