Seahawks wrap up Rookie mini camp sign five players from tryouts

The Seattle Seahawks completed their three-day rookie and undrafted free agent tryout session last Sunday and on Monday signed five players from the try out sessions.

The Seahawks had over 40 players who joined the teams nine draft picks from this year’s draft in the tryouts at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.  While the nine draft picks where signed and a lock for the upcoming t Organized Team Activities and eventually training camp, the three-day tryout was a chance for some players to fulfill on their dream of getting a chance to play in the NFL.

On Monday the team made that dream come true for five players. The team announced the signing of free safety Tevon Mutcherson, guard  Avery Young, center Marcus Henry, tackle Nick Callender, and receiver Damore’ea Stringfellow.


The  Seahawks waived receiver Ka’Raun White, receiver Taj William, linebacker Jason Hall, linebacker Paul Dawson and center Brad Lundblade to make room for the signing of Henry, Callender, Young, Mutcherson, and Stringfellow

The Mutcherson played at UCF, where he was teammates with Shawuil and Shaqueem Griffin while going undrafted in the 2017 draft. The 5-foot-10, 197 Mutcherson spent time with the Houston Texans last season.

Henry is a 6-foot-2 former Bellevue High grad who went undrafted after completing his collegiate career at  Bosie State. Henry was signed by the New Orleans Saints in 2016.

Young was also undrafted in the 2016 draft and spent time with the Saints, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the last two years due to a knee injury in 2016.

Callender has a severe Achilles injury during the Colorado States pro day last and missed the 2017 season. Callender started all 13 games his senior year Colorado State and earned  All-Mountain West honors at left tackle.

Stringfellow started his career at the University of Washington and ended his collegiate career at  Universty of Mississippi. Stringfellow went undrafted last year and signed with the Miami Dolphins who waived him after the preseason and was picked up by the New York Jets who kept him until last month.
