Seahawks place four players on Pro Bowl roster

The Seattle Seahawks placed four players on this year 2018 NFC roster. Safety Earl Thomas,  Linebacker Bobby Wagner,  Tight End  Jimmy Graham and quarterback Russell Wilson will represent the Seahawks at the annual NFL All-Star game. This years game will be played in Orlando, Florida on January 28th with a noon local time kickoff.

The four have stood tall in a season that has seen Seattle decimated by injuries. Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman suffered season-ending injuries that dramatically impacted how the Seahawks are able to play their signature pressure defense.

The loss of Chancellor and Sherman has forced Thomas to play the run and the pass. When Chancellor was in the lineup Thomas was able to play pass defense and leave the run defense to Chancellor who lined up just behind the defensive line. Despite putting in double duty Thomas logged in  71 tackles,  defended six passes, picked off two passes.

Wagner leads the NFL and the team with 89 solo tackles. Wagner is up for Defensive Player of the year and led the league in solo tackles last year. This all happening with a bothersome hamstring injury.

Wilson has put up career numbers in both the passing and rushing categories While the  3,669 passing yards and 30 touchdowns is a mild surprise, no one would have guessed that after 14 games Wilson would be the Seahawks leading rusher with 521 yards. Wilson has been responsible for all but one of Seattle’s touchdowns this season.

The much-maligned Graham is having his best year with the Seahawks. Graham leads the team with nine touchdowns and has become the red zone threat the team was hoping he would become when they acquired him in 2015. Graham now holds the team record for most receiving yards touchdowns by a tight in both a season and career.

2018 marks the seventh year in row the Seahawks have had at least four players earn Pro-Bowl honors. In 2017 the Seahawks had seven players named to the Pro-Bowl list, Wagner, Micheal Bennett, Cliff Avril and Sherman were initially named to the  Pro Bowl and were later joined by K.J. Wright, Graham, and  Doug Baldwin.
