The Seattle Sounders continued their offseason touch up Thursday when the club announced it had acquired fullback Waylon Francis from Columbus Crew SC in exchange for $50,000 in General Allocation Money. The 27-year-old fullback played five professional soccer season in his home country of Costa Rica then moved to Columbus where he spent the last four season with the Crew.

Francis started started 75 of 83 regular-season appearances from 2014-2017, recording 18 assists. The Costa Rican leftback recorded career highs with 28 appearances (all starts) and seven assists in 2015, earning an MLS All-Star selection before helping Crew SC to an MLS Cup appearance.
Following 31 MLS regular-season appearances and five assists between 2016 and 2017. The Crew declined Francis’ option following the 2017 season. Francis started all seven of his Audi MLS Cup Playoffs appearances with Crew SC.
