Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carrol updated the media on Wednesday afternoon after his team was gashed by the injury bug Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts. The good news is that LT Reese Odhiambo will be taking part in the teams Wednesday practice session. The bad news is that defensive end Cliff Avril has been ruled out Sunday game against the LA Rams in LA because of the neck/spine injury suffered in the Colts game.
Odhiambo spent Sunday next at a local hospital undergoing tests for what turned out to be bruised sternum. The injury looked much worse Sunday night when Odhiambo was attended to by EMT personnel inside the Seahawks locker room.
“Rees got upgraded today. He is going to practice today. He went to the walkthrough and all that. He made a quick turn and it will be important to see how he handles wearing pads and all that today and see how he handles that. But a very favorable turn here so we will see what happens.”
Avril’s injury occurred in the first quarter the team is taking every precaution measure to ensure a safe return for the teams sack leader in 2016 according to Carroll.
“Cliff is not going to play this week. We are going to take some time and make sure we are evaluating him well like we talked about. We are just going to hold him out.”
Cornerback Jeremy Lane another Sunday night casualty due to a groin pull has a ” long week ahead” according to Carroll. Cornerback and special teams contributor Neiko Thorpe is expected to play in the LA game after missing the past two weeks due to an ankle injury.
The Seahawks placed running back Cris Carson on the injured reserve list Monday after successful ankle surguey . Carson suffered the ankle injury during Sunday’s game.
