Seahawks Michael Bennett claims excessive force in Las Vegas police detainment

Seattle Seahawks All-Pro defensive lineman Michael Bennett spoke publically for the first time Wednesday afternoon at the team’s headquarters regarding his detainment by Las Vegas Police on August 26th.  Bennett tweeted out a letter detailing the incident in which he accused the Las Vegas Police of using excessive force during his detainment.

 

In the letter, Bennett states that he feared for his life and wondered if he would ever see his family again. Bennett believes the color of his skin played a role in the detainment.

 

The Las  Vegas Police Department held a press conference Wednesday afternoon and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Undersheriff Kevin McMahill claimed that race had nothing to with Bennetts detainment that saw police officer force Bennett to the ground and according to Bennett held a  gun to his head and threatened to kill him.
