The Seahawks are 2-0 after overcoming a penalty and mistake laden first half and making the necessary second half adjustments to pull off a gutsy 28-26 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday morning at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
THE SEAHAWKS TWO BACK OFFENSE IS A KEEPER
Seahawks running back Chris Carson had arguably his worst game as a Seahawks by coughing the ball over once in each half. The first fumble can be contributed to a great play Pittsburgh linebacker T.J. Watt who punched the ball from Carson. The second fumble was well careless, and a lesson learned for Carson. With Carson struggling the Seahawks were able to rely on Rashaad Penny for relief and bring on a different running style. The ability to shift running styles in the middle of a game will continue to be a difficult adjustment for defenses down the road. When the Seahawks went for it on 4th and 1 it was Carson that got the call and iced the game with a yard gain.
The Seahawks finished with 151 rushing yards. Penny had 10 carries for 62 yards, Carson 15-60, Russell Wilson 6-22 and C.J. Prosise. Carson had three receptions for 13 yards while Penny had one reception for 3 yards
WILL DISSLY IS BACK
The former Huskies two touchdown catches were game changers in Sunday’s win. It was a triumphant return for Dissly who work his way back into the starting lineup after recovering from a Week 4 patellar tendon injury against the Arizona Cardinals last year.
“Will looked good on a couple of other plays too, it wasn’t just the touchdown plays,” Carroll said after the game. “Will’s come a long way to get back. He had a terrible injury. He’s been phenomenal. He continues to rehab. Every day he works on making sure he’s making progress and being able to sustain.”
“He’s a wonderful football player on our team,” Carroll continued. “Great kid. He’s so on point with his assignments, his mentality, and all of that. And he comes through. He’s a terrific Seahawk.”

BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER UNDERSTANDS HIS TEAM OFFENSE
In addition to the 7 first half penalties the Seahawks allowed 4 sacks for minus 26 offensive yards. Since Seahawks could not keep the Steelers D-line out of its offensive backfield Schottenheimer went to an up tempo offense that kept the Steeler defense on its heels.
Wilson was able to pick the Steeler defense apart with passes that were in front of the free safeties and behind the Pittsburgh linebackers who were in zone coverage.
TYLER LOCKETT CAN CATCH SHORT PASSES
With Doug Baldwin retired the question of who will can be an effective slot receiver has been answered. Last year Lockett set career highs a deep route runner. Sunday Lockett set career high for most receptions in a game while running short intermediate routes. Lockett finished the game with 10 receptions for 79 yards.
