After last Wednesday’s heartbreaking 79 to 81 loss the Number One ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs, the University of Washington Huskies (6-3) had one thing on their mind which was to simply get back on the winning track with a quickness. Up next for the Huskies were the Seattle University Redhawks (9-2) who tried to play the part of rude guest as the Huskies lost their way midway through the second half but were unable to seal the deal as Dawgs held on for the 70 to 62 win.
A Myles Carter layup to start the second half cut the Huskies lead to just five at 41-36. It was then that the Huskies started moving the ball on offense, played good transition defense and took care of the basketball. As a result of the determined and focused play, the Huskies reeled off thirteen straight points to take 58 to 38 lead with 13:21 left in the game.
In what is now becoming an all too familiar storyline the Huskies stopped playing to their strengths and showed a complete lack of respect for their opponent, the game plan and the game its self. The Dawgs became sloppy in transition, starting jacking up bad shots and stopped playing the tenacious defense that gave them the lead. The Redhawks outscored the Huskies 22 to 4 and narrowed the Huskies lead to just two points with 2:04 left in the game. A Noah Dickerson jumper gave the Huskies a temporary four-point as Carter’s jumper brought the lead back to two with 1:24 left in the game.
A Dominic Green layup put the Huskies lead back to four points and two David Crisp free throws with 21 seconds on the game clock sealed the win for the Huskies.
GAME NOTES
- Jaylen Nowell lead the Huskies with 18 points and nine rebounds. Noah Dickerson chipped in 11points and pulled down six rebounds.
- Morgan Means 21 points led the visiting Redhawks

- The Redhawks are at Portland on Dec. 17.
- The Huskies will travel cross-country to face No. 15 Virginia Tech in Atlantic City, New Jersey, next Saturday.
