The biggest news to come out of the Seattle Seahawks last open practice before facing the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at CenturyLink Field was the non-participation of Free Safety Earl Thomas and the vague comments by Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll surround Thomas.
Thomas position with the team has been somewhat tenuous since his return from the offseason hold out. Thomas in his final year of a four-year contract was seeking a contract extension before the season started. The Seahawks balked at that idea and Thomas held out during all offseason activities.
Thomas returned five days before the teams season opener at Denver participated in 64 snap counts and recorded an interception in the Seahawks 24 to 27 loss to the Broncos. Thomas played all but two snaps in the teams second game a 24 to 17 loss to the Chicago Bears.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was asked about Thomas nonparticipation in practice and whether the three-time All-Pro Safety would participate in Sunday’s home opener against the Cowboys. Carroll’s answer left more questions than answers.
