Offense rolls in Seahawks 26 to 13 win over Chiefs.

Friday Night’s preseason game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Kansas City Chiefs went according to the script for the most part. Starters on both sides played all of the first half and a little of the third quarter. The Seahawks offense continued to fire on all cylinders and the defense showed it’s also ready for prime time.

The Chiefs drew first blood when they took the opening kickoff marked  63 yards down field and grabbed a 3-0 lead on a 30-yard field goal by Sam Ficken. Seattle answered with a  41-yard field goal by Blair Walsh that tied the game at 3-3. The Seattle scoring continued as Walsh booted his second field from  36 yards to give Seattle a  6 to 3 lead.

Russell Wilson continued his red hot preseason when he hit Tre Madden on a two-yard pass play that extended Seattle’s lead to 13-3.

De’Anthony Thomas put the Chiefs back in the game with a 95 kickoff return that narrowed Seattle’s lead to 10-13. A  third Wash field goal with three seconds left in the first half extended the Seahawks lead to 10-16 and the home side never looked back as they went on to with their third straight preseason game  26 to 13. A result head coach Pete Carroll was pleased with.

” I thought this game was a strange game in that it just shifted out of what for a while but I thought the first group did a really nice job offensively, in particular, we moved the ball well. We made some big plays, we continued to find explosive plays. The guys came through and made catches and stuff, so there were a lot  of good things that happened.”

The Seattle offense finished the night with 390 total yards, 134 which were rushing yards. Seattle needed to have a good offensive outing to show that the injury to left tackle George Fant was not debilitating but rather a tempory setback to a team that has high expectations going into the season.

The job of continuing fluid and efficient left guard play was put on Reese Odhiambo.  Friday night was Odhiambo’s first start at right guard and the second year player from Boise State looks to have convinced the coaches he is the man for the job.

Odhiambo’s lone transgression was giving up a sack to the Chiefs Chris Jones in the third quarter.  ” Yea I thought he did really well, He is a tough minded guy.” Wilson said of Odhiambo’s play after the game. ” He’s got a lot of talent. I thought he did a great job tonight.” Wilson was 19-13 and finished the game with 200 passing yards and one touchdown.
